What are tea subscriptions?
Tea subscriptions are recurring deliveries of tea, in flat pack or large letter formats that fit most letter boxes. We have two types of subscriptions: (1) Customised Subscriptions, where you determine the teas and define shipping intervals (1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks), and we charge your card separately for each delivery, and (2) Fixed Subscriptions where you sign up for a specific tea collection and shipping schedule, and pay upfront for everything.
Customised Subscriptions run until you terminate them, and Fixed Subscriptions run the term specified upon purchase. Note that subscriptions usually come with a discount - for instance, with the Customised Subscription you get a 10% discount from the standard tea prices!
How do I subscribe?
We currently offer two Fixed Subscriptions, the Four Month Tea Subscription that allows you to choose between four collections, and the Tasting Subscription where you can choose the length of the subscription. You can get them from these product pages.
To sign up to Customised Subscriptions, go to our web shop where we sell tea individually blend by blend. Choose the tea you like and select 'subscribe to regular deliveries and save 10%'. Next, choose your preferred delivery interval (between 1-4 weeks) and tea quantity, and add everything to cart. Note that you can choose multiple teas for the same delivery, and you can mix and match, i.e. purchase some teas for just one time and others as subscriptions. The teas you have purchased as subscriptions will be shipped to you in your chosen intervals, until you unsubscribe.
When you make your first order, we ask you to create a user account. At this stage it is optional, but it is good to note that you will be needing it to manage your orders, for instance, to skip shipments and to unsubscribe from Customised Subscriptions. You can also create the account later when it becomes necessary (see below 'How to I unsubscribe').
How do I pay for subscriptions?
Fixed Subscriptions are payable upfront for their whole duration. In the case of Customised Subscriptions, your first shipment is charged from your card right away, and thereafter each consequent shipment is charged from the card on the scheduled shipping day. Shipping day occurs always on the same day as your initial order, with such intervals (1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks) that you specify for shipping frequency. We will send you a reminder email always 3 days before the next scheduled shipping date, so that you know it is time to act if you wanted to skip a delivery or otherwise manage your order.
Important: we will notify 3 days before your next tea delivery ships and is charged, but you need to make sure our emails reach you! To do this, check after your first subscription order that you've received an email called 'Welcome! ABC of your tea subscription.' If you haven't, look it up from your junk box and mark the sender as 'not junk'.
How much does the delivery cost?
In the UK, delivery is included in the subscription prices. For delivery elsewhere, we charge an additional 50p per pack in the EU, and 80p per pack in the USA, Canada and Australia. Other countries aren't currently available for subscriptions. Note that if you change your shipping address in the middle of the subscription to a destination with shipping charges, they will be added to your orders and charged from your card from there on. And vice versa.
How do I unsubscribe, or skip deliveries?
To manage subscriptions, you need to be logged into your user account. If you haven't created one before, you'll now need to do that now, using the same email address that you used to get the subscription initially. See the right top corner of our web site for the account creation link.
Next, log into your user account and go to 'Manage Subscription'. If you are already logged in, you can also follow the path Subscriptions < Your Subscriptions. Here you get to your subscription portal where you can see all your orders and the upcoming shipments, and can skip and unskip deliveries for both Customised and Fixed Subscriptions. For Customised Subscriptions you can do other things, too, like change product quantities, swap teas, change delivery addresses and delete orders (=terminate subscriptions).
Can I unsubscribe or make changes at any time?
In your subscriptions portal, click on the order number to see the upcoming shipment dates - those are the dates when we charge your card. To make changes to any given shipment (including skipping shipments and terminating the whole subscription), you need to act before that scheduled shipment day. If you miss it, that shipment disappears from the 'next shipments' list - but you can always make changes that will impact the following shipment.
Note that you can't manage Fixed Subscriptions as flexibly as the Customised Subscriptions. For instance, Fixed Subscriptions can't be terminated as they terminate automatically on a fixed date, without interaction from your part. You can skip and unskip shipments for all subscription types, though, if for instance you don't want to receive tea when you are not home.
When do you deliver?
From your order date, it takes approximately 2-4 business days for us to process and ship your tea in the UK. Outside the EU, count an estimated 3-7 business days. You can expect your subscription deliveries to take place more or less the same time of the week.
Can I add more teas to my subscription?
You can do this with your Customised Subscriptions. Make sure you are logged into your user account, go to the web shop at www.piacha.co.uk/tea, choose your tea and click 'Add to your Subscription' on checkout. Your new tea is now added to the next scheduled shipment, and it will charged from your card at the same time as the rest of the teas in that shipment.
Can I change the types of tea in my subscription?
Again, for Customised Subscriptions, you can do this in through the subscription portal. You can also swap tea bags against loose leaf tea, and vice versa. And our Fixed 4 Month Tea Subscription allows you to swap in between the four collections.
Can I change the delivery address?
Yes, through the subscription portal you can do this for your Customised Subscriptions. Note that deliveries outside the UK cost an extra 50p per tea within the EU and 80p per tea outside the EU, and these charges will be added to the list price when your card is charged. Prices listed in the subscription portal are the tea prices only, and they don’t include postage fees outside the UK.
Well yes! You could have multiple subscriptions with different delivery addresses – for instance, you could create a separate tea subscription for your mother. Or receive your tea also in the office or holiday home. You choose the product and letter box – we ship the tea!
